I joined VML for an opportunity to lead UX and help drive UI efforts for Northern Trust’s enterprise website redesign, a project over a year-and-a-half in the making. NT’s existing website was almost fifteen years old and did not reflect the level of sophistication appropriate for the reputation and high-class clientele the institution serves.
Our team drove a deep digital discovery culminating in important new insights, which led to boundary-breaking and category leading architecture and visual design solutions aimed at 9 distinct audiences across the financial universe. Key checkpoints included reviews with NT’s global CMO, as well as CMO leadership of its 3 financial divisions (asset management, asset servicing, wealth management). Every detail was considered in this project and no stone left unturned.
Results
The new site launched in 2019 to internal applause (an organization-wide mini-campaign was even created to publicize the new site debut) and our primary client stakeholder was elevated to marketing EVP, partially due to the success and excitement around the website launch. The NT website currently remains largely intact as we designed it and serves UHNW clientele in 20 countries across 5 continents.
